## Symmetry

## We will discuss two types of symmetry here;

**Line symmetry**is when a shape can be "folded" down a certain line, and one half fits perfectly on top of the other**Rotational symmetry**is when a shape can be rotated (spun) and fit exactly on top of itself at least once before completing a full rotation. The number of times the shape fits on itself is called the**order of rotational symmetry**.

The equilateral triangle also has

The square has

The parallelogram has

**rotational symmetry**of order 3.The square has

**rotational symmetry**of order 4.The parallelogram has

**rotational symmetry**of order 2.
